Examining Scripture:
““Be of the same mind one toward another.
Mind not high things,
but condescend to men of low estate.
Be not wise in your own conceits.
Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men.”
Romans 12:16-17
Evaluating Soil:
Amazing things can be accomplished when we put our minds together, treat each other the same, show kindness to difficult people, and stay honest before God and others. However, just like growing, pruning, weeding, and nurturing a garden, these tasks may make us work up a sweat, but they aren’t impossible. In fact, God promised when we keep at it, that we’ll reap a beautiful harvest of blessings from our gardening and Godly efforts.
In today’s divisive climate it may seem that fruitful productivity is eternally hindered and hopeless. Yet, God never said we should quit working at living holy. We can’t give up on tomorrow until there are no tomorrows. We must stay busy and fruitful until God comes to get us and try to help each other.
Right thinking brings Godly reaping.
Experiencing Seasons:
Today, right this very minute, I yearn to be as fruitful as God would like me to be. I want to continue to work hard and overcome the divisions, trials, and storms that hinder a Godly harvest.
Embracing Solace:
It’s exciting to see a harvest in my life this year. I’m also grateful for the solace that accomplishments bring to life.
Enjoying Simplicity:
Reaping is always more productive when we focus. When we condition our minds to live in the moment, do the job at hand, engage with those who are around us today, we won’t waste our time and efforts regretting yesterday and dreading or dreaming about tomorrow.
Employing Solutions:
To reap a Godly harvest we have to be Godly minded which means we have to be Holy as God is Holy (1 Peter 1:16). We have to work with and look at people God’s way.
If we’re in constant conflict with ourselves and others, our homes, churches, work places, and communities will have no peace. We must stop and ask ourselves:
- Who are we in disagreement with?
- What are we thinking about?
- Where are our minds?
- When did we see things change?
- Why is our harvest hindered?
- How do we get our minds back on track with God and others?
Today we are in the harvest season. This is when we get to see what the year has produced and where our minds really have been. Have we been thinking differently than what God wants for us? Were we distracted and thinking differently than those around us? Let’s look at what God instructs us to think about.
“Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned,
and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:
and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Philippians 4:8-9
What a blessing to know God is with us when we think and do the right things. I can’t think of anything better than harvesting the peaceful fruit of our Creator’s Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and knowing He lives in our hearts.
